Artist: Lush Newton

Not only is Lush Newton an incredibly talented artist, she's basically the funniest person on the planet. Summing up her whip-smart sarcasm and artistic brilliance in print is no easy task—though Jennifer Savage of the Arcata Eye did a darn good job, if you'd like to read her article. Ms. Savage's article begins:

"When asked to identify a predominant theme
in her artwork, Lush Newton did not, as so many artists would, start expounding on temporal realities or the relative merits of types of beauty or the soul-lessness of the modern world. No, she simply paused for several moments, then said, 'Ham.'"

Let's just say there should be a picture of Lush next to the word "sardonic" in the dictionary. Her wit is lightning-fast and dry as hell. Lush's speech is also peppered by an array of colorful expressions, such as her tendency to holler "Cock!" when things go awry. A typical day for Lush, in her own words, is: "Sleep late. Fuck around. Do laundry. Fuck around. Make shit."

But don't let her potty mouth fool you. Lush is one brilliant @#$% chick—and a phenomenal artist. She has heaps of merchandising experience, used to draw for Disney, and is an incredible illustrator, as evidenced by Camp Betty's hiker or the fabulously evil Kitty at right.
