Behind the Scenes - Jenn August

Profile

Think Dave Matthews meets Ellen Degeneres.

With a candor and charisma that's winning over folk audience here and abroad, Jenn August calls herself "a creativity activist."  Utilizing her comedy background and her deep folk roots, Jenn August's music has a mission: to empower and to inspire.  Through performance and songwriting workshops, August aims to encourage us each to open up to our personal power and to find that  uniqueness in our own creative voice.

Jenn August

Nominated in 2003 for Just Plain Folk Songwriting Award, August enjoyed receiving the Best Performer Award at Northern California Songwriter's 2004 Association Showcase.  That same summer found Jenn August performing at the High Sierra and Strawberry Music Festivals, and sharing the stage with her long time favorite artists Dan Bern, Sonia and Anne Feeney.

Jenn August's first album, "Change the World," was released in 1994 and followed by a European tour.  In 2000, "Angels Here Among Us" debuted on K-Fog's Acoustic Sunrise.  Currently, August is in the studio working on her next album, "Dreams Alive," due out in 2005.
