Profile
Jessica Lurie is an internationally renowned composer,
performance artist, and woodwind master. Originally hailing from
Seattle, Lurie is now based in NYC. She performs and records worldwide
with the Living Daylights, the Billies (Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone
Quartet), as well as her own project: The Jessica Lurie Ensemble.
Jessica's Ensemble has performed at the 2002 Earshot
Jazz Festival Seattle,WA), The Earwing No Jazz Festival 2002 (Zagreb,
Croatia) and was a highlight at the 2003 High Sierra Music Festival
(Quincy, CA). Thus far in 2003 Jessica has toured the Northeast
and West coast of America, as well as a two week tour in Italy,
Slovenia and Croatia. As a solo artist she performed in several
groups at the 2003 New Orleans Jazz Festival, and at the 2003 Adirondack
Mountain Music Festival. She appeared at the 2003 Telluride Jazz
festival with DJ Logic, Marco Benevento and Joe Russo, and her ensemble
was also featured at Bumbershoot 2003, in Seattle.

She has collaborated with artists such as Danijel
Zezelj, Bill Frisell, The Indigo Girls, Amy Denio, Pat Grainey Dance
Company, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, The Shakin' Ray Levis Society,
Eyvind Kang, Robert Walter, Mike Clark, Skerik, Scott Amendola,
Les Claypool, Wayne Horvitz, Marco Benevento, and Joe Russo.
Jessica has received grants to compose for small and large ensembles,
dance, film, and multi-media performances. She has led a number
of workshops at festivals and events, internationally, on improvisation
and composition.
