Behind the Scenes - Jodaiko

Profile

JODAIKO is an all-women Taiko ensemble comprised of members of the Sacramento Taiko Dan and guest artists from Taiko groups throughout North America. The ensemble performs at a variety of women-centered events and strives to express the passion and strength of women through the art of Taiko.

Jodaiko's performers change depending on availability. Performing at Camp Betty Campout are Tiffany Tamaribuchi, Mary Nakamura, Kris Marubayashi, and Misa Takagi.

Jodaiko

Jodaiko made its debut in 1988 at the CSUS Women's History Month Celebration. This led to their first community performance on the west steps of the California State Capitol at the Take Back the Night March and Rally sponsored by the University Women's Center.

Highlights for this group have included a joint concert with The Dance Brigade at the Osaka Prefectural Women's Center in Osaka, Japan and main stage performances for the West Coast Women's Music and Comedy Festival.

Sacramento Taiko Dan is the premiere Japanese drumming ensemble in the greater Sacramento region. Founded in 1989, they are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Their performers include community members and an international touring performance team. The combination of renowned drummers and outstanding drums enables Sacramento Taiko Dan to provide audiences with world-class entertainment.
