In addition to trotting the globe with Ani DiFranco
for over four years as keyboardist and vocalist, she is featured
on many of DiFranco's most well-known recordings, including To
The Teeth, Up Up Up Up Up Up, Evolve, and most
recently, Knuckle Down. Wolf has worked with luminaries in
the jazz, folk, funk and rock/pop worlds, including Maceo Parker,
Bruce Cockburn, The Indigo Girls, Erin McKeown, Dar Williams, Catie
Curtis, Kris Delmhorst, Girlyman, Alix Olson, Rhiannon, and Laura
Love, among others.
Wolf also has a seasoned jazz life of her own,
having been part of Seattle's jazz community for 16 years. There
she has collaborated with such notables as Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz,
Robin Holcomb, Ralph Towner, Julien Priester, Jay Clayton, Jerry
Granelli and others. On her own recording, Walk The Worn Out Floor,
Julie steps forward with a collection of songs ranging from familiar
jazz standards to compelling originals written by herself and other
Seattle-based jazz musicians. Delivered through an array of styles
spanning the blues/jazz/singer-songwriter spectrum, Walk The
Worn Out Floor brings the rich simplicity of Julie's pianmo
playing and vocals to the foreground.
In early 2005, Wolf spent time in the studio co-producing
Jennifer Berezan's new album, End of Desire, with Jon Evans
(Tori Amos). This summer finds her on the road as part of Erin McKeown's
trio, touring in support of Erin's new album, We Will Become
Like Birds. Later this year, Wolf hits the road again with Dar
Williams in support of Dar's upcoming release, My Better Self.
