Behind the Scenes - Maia Scott

WORKSHOP LEADERS

Profile

Maia Scott is a certified recreation therapist and visual and performing artist who loves spreading the joy of the creative process. Maia's interdisciplinary performance work has been showcased at a wide variety of Bay Area small venue theatre spaces and public sites.

Maia Scott

Maia is also a Veriditas trained labyrinth facilitator. Combining the labyrinth and an interest in the healing power of the arts is the inspiration behind Maia's present day journey. Her dog Tessa is lighting her way along this path.

Workshop: Labyrinth Walk

The focal point of this workshop is the opportunity to walk the labyrinth. The aim is to clear a sacred space within each individual through a journey upon the sacred space of the labyrinth. Ideas, aids, and inspiration to foster the nurturing of personal development will also be offered. People who wish to meditate, get centered, explore, learn, grow, change, experience community, and open new doors to personal wellness are joyously welcome.

You will come away having discovered something unique:

  • A mode for quieting the mind
  • Tools for finding the space to balance caring for others and nurturing one's own needs and desires
  • Exploration of one's own quietude
  • How to experience life with compassion and passion
  • The strength of individuals coming together as one entity

You will participate in warming exercises to release tension and inhibition, including:

  • Introduction to the use and history of the labyrinth
  • A physical warm-up
  • Circle Chanting of participant names
  • Walk the labyrinth (with live or recorded music)
  • Share experiences from the labyrinth
  • Participate in a closing ceremony
  • Circle Chant of one word to describe experience
  • Embodying the new and releasing the old
