Vonyse is one of the most ('60s /'70s) soul invoked female vocalists to emerge in recent decades. Her songwriting is unequivocal and her themes culturally diverse. Vonyse's self proclaimed "Altered Native Soul" music has re-defined neo soul and revived the essence of the soul movement, breaking all the rules and pulling out all the stops.

A genre-less mix of rock, R&B, jazz and funk. Vonyse's first full length album "When Sleeping Giants Wake" has gotten her recognition from Billboard, Jane Magazine and LA Weekly for her groundbreaking musical style.

"I come from a survival place," says Vonyse. "Music has carried me through abandonment, molestation, homelessness and college. I trust it and it guides me." The album, written and produced by Vonyse, showcases passionately personal lyrics over a backdrop of music that cannot be limited by genres or categories. She says adamantly, "I can't stop making music.... I would die."

Vonyse has performed w/contemporaries such as The Black Eyed Peas, Erykah Badu, Cake, Gomez, Jessica Simpson, The Roots, India.Arie, Jurassic 5, Chaka Kahn, Ozomatli, Gladys Knight, Vivian Green, and Isaac Hayes. And she has been touching the hearts of thousands nationally, as well as internationally.
