Profile
A little old-timey, a little bit early-Nashville,
The Whoreshoes strike the perfect balance of loveable country. From
their recent performance at the 2004 Gay Rodeo in La Honda, CA to
the popular San Francisco music venue, The Make-out Room, this all-gal
ensemble is comfortable playing outdoor festivals to smoky nightclubs.

Featuring members of The Runaway Truck Tramps,
Hank and Cypher In The Snow, The Whoreshoes perform old-time and
honky-tonk songs to put a tear in your eye and drink in your glass.
"We do everything from bars to barbeques. If the Whoreshoes
are there, it's always a 'ho-down'." Scrappy and sweet, these
women fight for your heart. And for their place at the bar.
The Whoreshoes are five women who came together from throughout
the Bay Area, representing San Francisco, Oakland, and Marin County
to create traditional-with-a-twist country music. Scorning "contemporary
country" these women celebrate the roots of country western,
with a lively mix of obscure classics from the likes of the Stanley
Brothers and the Carter Family to their original tunes that you
might swear you've heard before.
Multi-instrumentalism is a trade mark of this
band, with five players bringing out the best in banjo, fiddle,
guitar, lap steel, madolin, ukulele, honky-tonk piano, accordian,
washboard and spoons. Their sweet harmonies can lead you to the
brink of tears then move you to the dance floor to kick up your
heels with a yee-haw! Whether electric or acoustic, these musicians
seek to evoke the best of a bygone era and bring that boot stomping,
hollering spirit direct to you. After just one year, The Whoreshoes
have become the favorite of many, and will certainly be favored
at Camp Betty Campout.
